Groovin’ In The Park is North America’s largest annual Reggae and R&B concert. It is a family friendly entertainment event which provides an eclectic array of popular music catering to a very diverse audience from the USA and the Caribbean. Recognizing that many quality out-door park concerts are mostly held in the boroughs of Manhattan (Central Park) and in Brooklyn (Prospect Park) in the summertime, this event which is held at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, bring quality entertainment to the borough, so that its residents will have ease of access and also share in the many spin off activities that are associated with the staging of such a premiere concert. Groovin’ in the Park has continued to intensify its focus on presenting a cadre of high quality performances coupled with an atmosphere of relaxation and enjoyment for the community in response to their increasing demand for first class entertainment within the tri-borough area of New York. Groovin’ in the Park concentrates its efforts at positive developments within the community and view this event as another avenue to respond to one such need.

FAQs

What time will the gates be open?

Gates open at 11:00 A.M. on June 25, 2017.

Can I purchase tickets at the gate?

Yes. Tickets are available at the gate on show day, June 25, 2017.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. All tickets have to be scanned for you to gain access to the park on show day.

Is my ticket transferrable?

You can purchase tickets for other persons but be wary that it is one ticket per patron for access to the park on show day. Duplicate tickets will be rejected. Attempts at duplication will result in the first ticket scanned (ONLY), gaining access.

Where is the VIP and VVIP entrance??

The VIP and VVIP entrances are at the Merrick Blvd entrance to the Roy Wilkins Park.

Where is the General Admission entrance??

The General Admission entrance is at the Baisley Blvd entrance to the Roy Wilkins Park. If you have a general admission ticket, you will not be allowed access through any other gate.

Is there a minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Groovin’ in the Park Concert is a family friendly event. Children under the age of 12 years enter free with the requisite proof.

Is re-entry allowed?

No. There is no re-entry. All exits are final.

What is the difference between VIP and VVIP?

Apart from the pricing, the VIP area is furnished with chairs at the front of the stage. Each VIP patron is provided with 2 meals and unlimited beverage for the duration of the concert. The VVIP patrons will be assigned to one of several elevated tents which are furnished with sofas, cocktail tables and a monitor (in addition to the elevated view) to get a closer view of the performance. The VVIP patron also receives unlimited meals and beverage for the duration of the concert.

How should I dress?

Roy Wilkins Park is an outdoor venue. Please dress in comfortable clothes and shoes. Check theweatherchannel.com for the forecast as the weather can be unpredictable. An umbrella may come in handy.

What can I bring into the event?

You are allowed to bring your own chair provided that the chair’s seat height is 2 feet or less. Chairs that do not meet the requirements will not be allowed inside the venue. The following are not allowed:

  • NO WEAPONS (including knives, sharp or pointy objects)
  • No ALCOHOL – Alcoholic beverage of any kind is not permitted inside the park
  • NO LUGGAGE (including briefcases or duffle bags)
  • NO GRILLS
  • NO COOLERS
  • NO GLASS BOTTLES OR CONTAINERS
  • NO CAMERA LENS OVER 6″

Are concessions available?

Yes. There will be a variety of food and craft vendors whose wares will add to the ambiance. They will have available a variety of Caribbean foods and beverages for the duration of the concert.

What are my parking options?

Street parking ONLY. You will NOT be allowed to park inside the Roy Wilkins Park on the day of the concert.

Is wheelchair seating available?

Yes. There will be a designated wheelchair accessible area. Service animals trained to assist the disabled are welcomed at our performances.

What’s the refund policy?

NO REFUND. All sales are final. Groovin’ in the Park Concert is a rain or shine concert.
