Curbfest is an annual cultural event that brings together organizers and the community to raise awareness of political prisoners. This is a family fun event including performances\, tabling\, food\, music\, vendors\, storytelling\, face painting\, etc. \n\n\n\nPRISONER OF WAR (POW’S) are clandestine freedom fighters who were captured while engaging the enemy in armed military action for the national liberation of our people. \n\n\n\nPOLITICAL PRISONERS (PP’s) in the United States as individuals who are incarcerated because of political beliefs and/or actions in the Black Liberation Movement that are in opposition to the policies of the United States Federal & State governments and the ruling elite. \n\n\n\nPRISONERS OF POLITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS as individuals who\, as a result of their capture and incarceration for committing social crimes\, become politically conscious and actively opposed to the policies of the United States Federal & State governments in general and its racist criminal justice system in particular. \n\n\n\nPURPOSE AND AIMS: \n\n\n\n1st Aim: The Curbfest for Political Prisoners connects organizers with community members to raise funds and awareness for political prisoners and share ways community to get involved in the movement . \n\n\n\n2nd Aim: The Curbfest for Political Prisoners is a collaborative effort implemented by organizations and community leaders to further connect and bring other grassroots community based organization together with a focus on centering Political Prisoners plight and dialogue within their organizations. \n\n\n\n3rd Aim: The Curbfest Event for Political Prisoners is committed to sharing learned lessons\, health practices and community survival strategies with the local community in political sessions. \n\n\n\n4th Aim: The Curbfest Event for Political Prisoners express the work all the organizers and organizations are doing as it relates to supporting Political prisoners and our communities.
