SUMMARY:Shaggy in Conversation with Max Glazer
DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn\, let’s talk. Please join us on Tuesday\, June 2nd at 6 pm for a talk with legendary Jamaican superstar @direalshaggy and @maxglazer inside @bklynlibrary’s Central Library on Grand Army Plaza in the Dweck Cultural Center. \n\n\n\nRSVP\n\n\n\nThe Jamaican diaspora has massively influenced local and international culture\, from Hip-Hop pioneer Kool Herc in the Bronx to the enduring presence of dancehall in contemporary pop music. No one has taken the sounds of Jamaican dancehall distilled via Brooklyn’s streets to greater heights than multiplatinum reggae superstar Shaggy. Orville “Shaggy” Burrell’s unique style and unmistakable voice helped carry dancehall reggae into the mainstream in the 1990s. Today\, he continues to wave the flag for Jamaican music and its next generation of artists. His new album\, Lottery\, features both genre legends and promising new talent. \n\n\n\nBrooklyn Talks. SUMMARY:Aza Lineage
DESCRIPTION:VP Records Presents: Aza Lineage “Rebel Daawta” Live \n\n\n\nSpecial Quests \n\n\n\n\nMighty Mystic\n\n\n\nMediSun\n\n\n\n\nMusic by \n\n\n\n\nVaughn Allstar (Kulcha Kartel. WKCR)\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nOn Thursday June 18\, the eve of her debut album release\, Aza Lineage will bring the spirit of Rebel Daawta live to the stage of Crown Hill Theater in Brooklyn. She will be joined by Boston based roots reggae artists Mighty Mystic and MediSun for an evening of conscious reggae music. Doors open at 6PM\, show time will be 7PM. Another highlight of the evening is that fans will have the opportunity to purchase the first copies of the Rebel Daawta Vinyl LP. \n\n\n\nProduced by King Jammy and released through VP Records\, Rebel Daawta blends foundation reggae\, sound system culture\, conscious lyricism\, and modern storytelling across 17 tracks. Built from classic riddims pulled from King Jammy’s iconic vaults\, the project introduces Aza Lineage as one of reggae’s emerging voices while staying deeply rooted in the genre’s authentic foundation. \n\n\n\nThe album features collaborations with Johnny Osbourne\, Jesse Royal\, Brandon Rootz\, and an opening introduction from veteran deejay Lone Ranger. Songs like “Rebels In Town\,” “One Draw\,” and “Sound System” showcase Aza’s balance of militant roots\, energy\, spirituality\, love\, and social awareness. \n\n\n\n“Working with King Jammy really sharpened me as an artist\,” said Aza Lineage. “This album represents growth\, awareness\, and staying true to myself and the foundation of reggae music.” \n\n\n\nThe Crown Hill Theatre performance marks the beginning of a new chapter for Aza Lineage as she steps fully into the spotlight with Rebel Daawta\, an album rooted in reggae tradition while pushing the culture forward for a new generation.
